The material they’re using now is different and of lesser quality than what they were using in previous years. The material used to be smooth and now it’s slightly rough and the holes of the sponge are visible. It’s definitely not the same product and customers shouldn’t be charged the same amount for lesser quality. Lastly, when cleaning, the pink dye runs (see pics) - this also never happened with the prior years’ products.

SILENTLY CHANGED MATERIAL
Product material has changed in the last couple of months. I’ve used this sponge for over a decade and only paid the high price because there is truly nothing like it. The one I bought a few days ago feels rough, dries out my under eye, and lifts my makeup. Comparing it to my sponge from several months ago, the material feels completely different, despite both being the same original pink version. I genuinely thought I was imagining it until I found other recent reviews describing the exact same issue. There has been no announcement about a change that I can find, which is really frustrating. This is also the second product I’ve experienced this exact issue with from Sephora this month. I reached out to see what could be done and was told I had to come into the store again to do another return. Very disappointing, especially for a product that used to be a staple.

Cheaper Material, No Longer Great
I have been using the Beautyblender for years and was always happy with the results. Unfortunately, the most recent one I purchased is completely different. The material is significantly different from the original. This new version has a rough texture that isn't comfortable on my skin, lighterweight, and does not blend my makeup at all. They're clearly using an inferior material. Beautyblender has lost a long time customer.

Ridiculously Overpriced and Outdated Material
Who is STILL spending $20 on makeup sponges in 2026? Well, apparently I did! Modern makeup sponge quality has improved significantly since back when this sponge was popular. TEN YEARS AGO. After a few years, I was finally at a point where I could afford to buy a Beauty Blender. The same beauty blender I would see countless in makeup tutorials growing up. However, after trying it out, I was left DISAPPOINTED. The material is slightly firmer than what I’m used to with my dupes, and I feel like I have to work harder to blend my makeup because of its smaller size. I have tried similar cheaper makeup sponges that work the same if not BETTER than this product and I will NOT be repurchasing.

Suggested Usage: -Wet Beautyblender with water for each use.
-Squeeze out excess liquid, using a towel if necessary.
-Bounce foundation, bb cream, powder, or any other base and complexion product across the face for flawless results.
